Declaring cryptocurrencies in the canton of Jura

In the Jura, cryptocurrencies are declared in the list of securities. The tax return software has no specific section: if your platform provides a tax statement, add it under “Relevés fiscaux bancaires, relevés supplémentaires” (bank tax statements, additional statements); otherwise, declare your cryptocurrencies under “Actions / Fonds de placement” (shares / investment funds). Enclose the tax statement or, failing that, evidence of your holdings and their tax value.

Does the Jura have guidance on cryptocurrencies, staking or DeFi?

No. The canton has not published any guidance, directive or information sheet on cryptocurrencies, and has no position of its own on tokens missing from the Federal Tax Administration's price list, staking, airdrops or decentralised finance (DeFi). It refers to the information and instructions of the Federal Tax Administration.

The rest does not depend on the canton. What is taxable, the value to use as at 31 December, the treatment of staking or airdrops: these rules are federal and apply everywhere in Switzerland. They are explained in the frequently asked questions and in the free guide.

Level 2, in preparation, will go further for the canton of Jura: which price to use for a token missing from the Federal Tax Administration's list, where to declare income from staking, lending or airdrops, how to present your cryptocurrencies in the Jura tax return software, and which documents to prepare from 31 December.
